Recently, we received an inquiry today from a new customer in the area wanting a quote for CCTV. Unfortunately, they had unwanted visitors during the day whilst at home. We immediately arranged to send our Estimator to carry out a FREE site survey to give a tailor-made quote. This insured there are no hidden extras.
We offered to quote for an intruder alarm at the same time. We believe that an alarm and its bell box/siren are the first lines of defence against burglars. However, they said that they had already arranged for a local company to install the alarm. Obviously, we wanted to compare ourselves and our costs, as we believe we are very competitive. So we asked what they were offering and roughly how much they were quoted.
To say that we were shocked is an understatement!
This customer told us that they have to pay £800 for the installation, plus £54 per month for the next 3 years – that’s £890 per annum = which would total over £2,700 – we are shocked!!! Plus the system did not belong to them at the end of this period! Also, this alarm does not include an audible siren outside the property – which we believe is the first line of defence. Also, it does not include a Police response, but instead, someone turns up in the case of an activation.

As a guideline, our 5-zone alarm system, with Home Control App, and Police response, is considerably less and our contracts are 12 months renewable. For comparison purposes, we calculated that to install, maintain and service our alarm over 3 years, with Police response –– our price would be nearer to £1,000. That’s quite a difference!
When contacted by new customers who have just been burgled we ask how they chose Third Eye Installation Systems. They often explain that we have already installed an alarm on their neighbour’s property – note, the neighbour was not burgled! All our alarms include a visible bell box/siren at the front and rear of the property, to alert burglars that it is alarmed and possibly monitored. The Police state that 70% of burglaries occur at properties without an alarm. How do you know it doesn’t have an alarm – it doesn’t have a bell box/siren!
